This is the only part of the site that AI has no part in! I'm writing this about 15-20 hours into building the site. I've been shocked at the progress in that amount of time.
I’m Seth, and I built Pack Predictions. This project is the convergence of a lot of stuff:
My day job for the last decade has put me very close to all of it, but I am completely ignorant to building a website, databases, coding, repos, modeling, etc. Yet suddenly with these tools and enough time I can build a functional model and website.
My goals are really simple:
Since this is new, I'm funding everything to start, including the prizes. This stuff is surprisingly cheap to build and run relative to my expectations - currently sitting at $160/year to build and run. Longterm, I do want to explore partnerships for the prizes to continue to improve and make it worthwhile for State fans - this is the part that excites me the most.
What this will never be is a business or revenue stream for me. This is meant to be fun for you and for me. I have had the thought that if it turns into something, it could be productized for other markets (i.e. professional sports markets or other schools), but it will never be that for State. I also want to figure out how this can help boost donations for NC State athletics. These last two pieces are ambitious and probably naive, but I’ll cross those bridges if they present themselves.
This could turn into nothing and just be used amongst some of my friends, or be a total flop altogether. This could turn into a fun thing with hundreds of users every season that lasts for years. We'll see!
